To buy a fat pig! Okay I didn't, but I sure could have! There was a great big fat one wandering around in the market the other day when Jay and I went to do a veggie shop. The market venders were all shooing it away, trying to keep it out of their produce. And fresh produce there was!
It is very nice to have such great access to fresh veggies again. However, it is a bit of a mission going to the market as it is also a major bus stop in Goroka. So that means there are vehicles and people going every which way with not to much regard for right of way or any rules for that matter, and once you get past the parking lot if you are lucky you remembered to put on your hikers because then you get to contend with the mud (not just any ordinary mud, market mud, remember that pig!). However it is very worth it and I always feel like I am getting back to my roots as a farm girl when I come away with my two rice sacks full of veggies.
Look at all of those tomatoes! They are destined for a homemade pasta sauce, can't wait!
Until next time!
